Mike: Monday, 5 July 2010
My name is Mike Kilpatrick. I am 56 years old and live on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. I am writing to inquire about your availability to provide several days of private guided tours of Warsaw and Krakow in late September and early October, 2010. I will be traveling with my two very good friends, Arthur and Tom, ages 70 and 79. None of us have ever been to Poland, but have been to Europe many times. We intend to arrive in Warsaw the evening of 27 September and expect to stay in Warsaw until Friday, 1 October. Then we would like to travel to Krakow to see that city and Auschwitz, the go to Dresden for a couple of days before returning to Hawaii on Wednesday, 6 October.
Our primary interests include history, architecture, natural beauty and, for Tom, pipe organs. He has been a professional organist for 60 years and any tour with him must include grand churches or cathedrals, especially those with impressive pipe organs. We all enjoy classical music and hope we can experience one or two concerts during our trip as well.
We have just decided to take this trip, so I have not done any preparation, other than securing our air travel from Honolulu to Frankfurt. So, I would welcome any suggestions you might have as to travel within Poland, hotels of 3 or 4 star quality, and specific events that we might wish to experience.
One specific question involves the train from Krakow to Dresden. We have found some European trains to be quite enjoyable, but others are either older or not so comfortable. If the Krakow to Dresden train is not recommended we would fly that segment as well, unless you have other suggestions.
If you are not available during any of this time I would greatly appreciate a referral to another English speaking guide with a comfortable car. Feel free to forward this request to another guide if you are not available. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely and Aloha,
Mark: I am interested in a personalized tour of Poland with the objective being to meet a quality woman from the countryside for marriage consideration.
I am 32 years old and am from Decatur, Indiana, USA. A graduate of Purdue University my profession is airline pilot. Currently I own a small farm and have major interests in organic farming and politics. I have never married and I have no children.
Eastern European women intrigue me because of their traditional lifestyle and values they generally possess. There are perhaps many nice ladies in the metropolis areas who sign up with dating/marriage agencies but I am more interested in a lady from the countryside who is probably more likely to value sincere love, understands and appreciates farm life, raise good food and likes animals. For this reason I would like to travel through the countryside to see for myself if I can meet such a quality woman with whom I would be compatible.
What I am looking for in a tour guide is one who knows the country well and is willing to go with me to the areas where I am most likely to meet a country “farm” girl of my liking. We can perhaps meet some farmers, have some beers at the village disco-tech, and meet women. Naturally, additional benefits of this tour would also be seeing the country and learning about the culture. If you are able to assist me on this endeavor please let me know. Even if this type of tour is not your “cup of tea” perhaps you could recommend to me somebody who could conduct this tour with me. From there we can get more detailed about who I am, the kind of lady I am looking for, and designing the tour.
Thank you for your consideration.
My wife and I are looking for a trip for the fall. We really are open to dates of travel and prefer to avoid crowded times if possible. We have never been to Poland before. We are mostly interested in getting to learn about the culture and meet the people. We generally prefer the country side as opposed to big cities but certainly want to see the important sights. I am Jewish (my wife is not) and interested in the important Jewish sights. My family heritage is from Eastern Europe but not Poland (both my parents were born in the USA). We generally like the smaller quaint hotels as opposed to big chain hotels. Guest houses and nice B+B's are fine as well (and often preferable) as long as we have our own bathroom and air conditioning if it will be hot. We are planning on 8-10 nights and will be coming from the USA (we live in Florida) so we would need to arrive into and leave from airports that we can make connections from. We have done many privately guided tours before and find that so much more preferable to group tours. We would want you to make as many arrangements as possible. Is this the type of trip that you can do? If so, do you have a ballpark figure for what it might cost? I am 52 and my wife is 50. We are both in good physical shape and love to walk. I actually like to jog in the morning if the location is suitable to it. I look forward to hearing from you. Any questions that I can answer for you?
Claude: Greetings !
We are a group of 9 Canadians tourists arriving in Gdynia on May 26th 2008 aboard the Cruiseship Crown Princess !
Our ship arrives at 9 am. and leaves at 6 pm. thus leaving us about 7 1/2 hours to visit the area around Gdansk !
Since we would have visited a lot of cities during our cruise at that point,we would be more inclined at visiting the country side and different types of historical areas around Gdansk !
We are particularly interested by the Marlbork Castle and the Stutthof Concentation Camp.
Can a sight seeing trip be organized for a group of 9 adults (age 58 to 70),from the port of Gdynia, including adequate transportation ,the services of a guide (if French speaking it would be better but not necessary,English could be o.k.),and an itinerary that would include time and location for lunch (price not included )?
If time would still be available, we would appreciate to go back via Sopot to have a quick overlook of this resort city ! We would have to be back at the ship in Gdynia no later than 5h30 pm.!
If such an excursion is feasible, would you please provide us with a quotation and please feel free to add any comments or recommandations ?
Thank you and Best Wishes for the year to come !
