The federal capital and most populous city in Malaysia is Kuala Lumpur. The Malaysian King resides here. Kuala Lumpur is the cultural, economic and financial center of Malaysia and it has been designated as a ‘key city’. The tallest buildings in the world, the Petronas Twin Towners, are located in Kuala Lumpur and they have become an iconic symbol of Malaysia’s social, futuristic and economic development.

The warm and sunny tropical rainforest climate and the fact that Kuala Lumpur is protected by the Titiwangsa Mountains in the east and the Sumatra Island in Indonesia in the west, make for excellent temperatures year round. In the city center is one of the oldest virgin forests in the world that is located inside a city. This forest is called Bukit Nanas and here you can see pygmy goats, monkeys, shrews, squirrels and birds.

A must-see place in Kuala Lumpur is Lake Gardens. This park includes a butterfly park, a deer park, an orchid garden, a hibiscus garden and the Kuala Lumpur bird park, the largest bird park in Southeast Asia. Other parks include KLCC Park which is a sculpture garden, the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia which many people find interesting and Bukit Kiara Botanical Gardens.
