Literally “medina” means “an old city”, and usually most of the places of interest are concentrated in that area.

All the streets in medina are narrow and maze-like, so any kind of transportation is prohibited there, even motorbikes and bicycles. We will find numerous souks in medina. Souk is an open-air market. Usually you can buy anything on such souks, but the most popular goods are spices and Moroccan handmade carpets. Medina is a wonderful place to immense in the past times of Morocco and imagine what the life was like several centuries ago.

As your private guide in Morocco I would recommend you to visit famous Palais de la Bahia. The name of the palace means “brilliance” as far as the palace was intended to be the greatest building of its time. After exploring the beauties of the palace we will proceed to the Jemaa el-Fnaa square. Its name literally means “congregational mosque”. Nowadays there is no mosque in the square, but there used to be one a century ago.

This square is the most popular in Marrakech. During the day you will find there numerous attractions: snake-charmers, chained Barbary apes, water and juice sellers and so on.
