Information about Dar Es Salaam

Dar es Salaam is the biggest city in Tanzania with a tropical wet and dry climate.  It is usually humid and hot with its rainy months being April, May, October, and November.  This is a paradise for those guests that take a great interest in shopping and terrific dining.  In the Kariakoo area there are bazaars, shops, and merchants selling various products.  Restaurants aim to satisfy visitors with their appealing choices in delicious food; therefore, the culinary options are diverse and include international as well as local meals.

The Village Museum displays traditional huts for 16 separate Tanzanian ethnic groups.  Here, tourists will discover illustrations of old-fashioned agriculture and learn about traditional music and dance by seeing expressions that are held on a daily basis. The National Museum is also a great place, both interesting and educational, as it depicts the history of Tanzania.

There are botanical gardens with a nice range of trees and plants that tourists are able to peruse as they take in the many wonders of nature.  Some of the beaches are located north of Dar es Salaam on Msasani Peninsula while others are situated in the south on Kigamboni.  Dar es Salaam Marine Reserve provides a little bit of everything with its beautiful islands ideal for sunbathing, swimming, and snorkeling.  Mbezi Beach is a beachfront suburb with welcoming beaches for optimum relaxation.  In light of the spectacular landmarks and goings-on at Dar es Salaam, we encourage you to consider this city on your subsequent journey.

We were four and we were booked our trip under limited budget. The Guide received us at the Dar es Salaam International Airport on 10th February 2014 in late hours evening at 16:20 hrs and greeted us and we received a ...
