1. Golden Temple, Amritsar

2. Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, Srirangam

This temple is considered to be one of the largest existing Hindu temples in the whole world. It is situated on an island in the river Cauvery and occupies approximately 632,000 m2 (its perimeter equals 4,116m). Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple has 21 towers and 1000 pillared halls with beautiful sculptures of riding horses.

5. Khajuraho

Khajuraho is an ancient Indian temple, which is considered to be unique regarding its inimitable sculptures and architecture. It is worth noting that most of the sculptures are quite sensual and sexually explicit. Only 20 out of original 8 temples are still in good condition. 


6. Borobudur

This beautiful lotus-like temple is situated in Central Java. Borobudur has a large stupa bell, which is known as Sacred Lotus and it displays 504 masterfully crafted Buddha statues. This place is one of the World Heritage Sites of UNESCO. 


7. Jetavanaramaya

Jetavana Monastery in Anuradhapura is considered to be the home to this well-known Stupa. The architectural style of this stupa is expressed through the conflict between Mahayana and Theravada sects of Buddhist monks. It is believed that some parts of Buddha’s belt are enshrined there.

The Temple of Heaven is located in Beijing, China. It was built to symbolize heaven and earth. The rectangular southern wall of the temple symbolizes earth, while the circular northern wall symbolizes heaven. 9. Prambanan

Some people believe that this inimitable Hindu temple of Indonesia is built in order to demonstrate the conquest of the religion in Java. The temple consists of three building each of them being a bright example of ancient architectural beauty. There are more than 250 shrines around the temple. 


10. Shwedagon Pagoda

This marvelous Buddhist monument is 98 meter high and it is covered with gold weighing nine tons. Can you imagine that? The night view of Shwedagon pagoda is truly spectacular! There are some beautiful statues in the temple but most tourists are lured exclusively by its luxurious golden look.
