Hello - Nice to meet you!
I am private guide Gudrun Helga based in Reykjavik capital of Iceland. I am working full-time as private guide with my own small groups but sometimes bigger groups and I would be delighted to meet you and introduce my beautiful country to you.
I a doing day tours from Reykjavik to all the stunning places in the countryside. It usually involves quite some driving but is definitely worth the trip when you see the waterfalls, volcanoes, glaciers, fjords, mountains, geysers and whatever there is to see in the places we visit together.
I love to do custom tours so two tours are never completely the same. I also like to take extra breaks on the way if time permits and it's ok with you. If you have any requests for your tour then I'd be delighted to respond to that.
I speak English, Swedish, Danish and Finnish and I understand Norwegian.
I have a great supertruck. It's a converted Ford Econoline E350, 4x4, with five independent and comfortable captain seats and space for four on the back bench, 35" tires and a free wifi in the van. I have a luggage trailer that takes up to 16 suitcases. A tiny cooler can be arranged but needs to be booked in advance.
I also have a smaller car, Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Hybrid 4x4 with good space for 1-3 guests. I can rent a bigger vehicle / bus if you like, with me driving and guiding or with a separate driver.
I am both a guide and a journalist. I used to work for radio, newspapers and magazines in Iceland since the mid 1980s. Nowadays I'm mainly writing in Swedish and sometimes English.
I love writing and I have published my first book, Traditional Icelandic Food - A Gastronomic Guide to Iceland telling information and stories about traditional Icelandic food.
I simply love meeting new people through my role as your guide. It makes me happy and opens a window to the world out there so please contact me for more information. I'd be delighted to be your guide!
