Chisinau - the capital of the Republic of Moldova, a modern economic and cultural center. Chisinau, like Rome, is spread out over seven hills. Its population is about 730,000 residents of different nationalities. The first mentioning about the city, we find in 1436 in the charter of Moldovan magistrates Ilyash I. On the right bank of the river Byk arose the settlement, which gradually rose up above the slope.

In 1834 has been approved the new plan of city, and from this moment in Chisinau are constructed straight streets. It’s architecture was influenced by affected different styles: like modern and eclectic, gothic and classicism. The Cathedral and the bell tower are erected in the style of Russian classicism in the center of the city. The famous Arch of Triumph is built especially for the largest bell, wich has the weight of 400 poods. As the basis for Arch construction was taken up the plan of the Arc de Triomphe in Rome. The building of town administration was built in the italian renaissance tradition with gothic elements. Bank was engenered by M.K.Chekerul Kush, he has erected a beautiful building in the style of Russian classicism with elements of romanticism. Today - it is the organ hall, where are sounding concerts of organ and chamber music. Czech firm "Rieger-Kloss", at a special order, manufactured the pipe organ of medium size.

Architecture of the historical center is perfectly combined with the new post-war buildings on the main streets. On whole neighborhoods, administrative building’s facade are decorated with stone carvings and colored ceramics. The city acquired a modern view of capital. In the center of town at the entrance of oldest park there is erected the monument of the Moldovan ruler Stefan cel Mare si Sfint. In 1885, in this park unveiled the monument to Alexander Pushkin.
The residents of the capital treat with due care on the military past. In honor of the 30th anniversary of the Second War Victory, in 1975 was built the Memorial of Military Glory "Eternity". Every year, on May 9 to the memorial come hundreds of thousands of residents and guests to pay tribute to those who died.

Every year, in Chisinau are held: Folklore Music Festival "Martisor", international festival of opera and ballet "Invite Maria Biesu", festival of jazz bands "Ethno-Jazz", "National Day of Wine" and " City Day ". The wonderful stories and legends of our region, historical and ethnographic museums, art galleries and exhibitions, national celebrations and colorful fairs are offered.
