Excursion in Ronda

Tour Price : Upon request Duration : Between 6 and 8 hours, depending on your time Languages: English, German

Ronda is a little city in the beautiful province of Malaga. It is considered to be one of the three famous Andaluz tourist attractions, along with Granada and Sevilla. It is so popular among the tourists because even in the modern age, in the 21st century it retains its incomparable historical charm. Ronda is universally known for its breath-taking views and escarpments. Moreover there is a deep gorge called El Tajo that carries the Guadalevin River through its center.

This private tour in Spain includes visiting of the three famous bridges in Ronda: Puente Roman (which means “Roman Bridge”), Puente Nuevo (meaning “New bridge”), and Puente Viejo (“Old Bridge”). These three bridges span the canyon. It would be wrong to call the New Bridge the way it is called, because it was built in the middle of the 18th century. Any private guide in Malaga would tell you that Ronda is actually the birthplace of modern bullfighting. Each year Ronda is hosting a special bullfighting festival – Feria Goyesca. It is held at the beginning of September, and most of the tourists prefer to visit Ronda especially during this period. It is a very impressive performance, and it is definitely worth seeing. Bullfighting is a national feature of Spain, so you should definitely take a look at it.

Some of the famous and influential figures of the past were captivated by Ronda and spend much time there. Among them was the legendary American writer Ernest Hemingway. He wrote about his impressions of Ronda, its beauty and charm, and of course about the national bull-fighting tradition. El Tajo cliff is mentioned in his novel – “From Whom the Bell Tolls”. As your private guide in Spain I will answer all your questions regarding the history and culture of Ronda.

My family and I took a tour to Ronda with Eva on 2/16/12. She did an excellent job explaining the history and walking us thru the breath taking town of Ronda.

Eva is a wonderful guide, and we highly recommend her tours.

Looking forward to going back to Malaga in the future, and will definitely hire Eva again as our guide.
