Culture and History tour in Split

Tour Price : 110 or 135 or 160 Euro Duration : 2 or 3 or 4 hours Languages: English / Español

***Please note, this is a walking tour and does not include transportation. Upon your request, during the tour (3- or 4-hour one) we can take a bus or a taxi-extra costs apply.

This fascinating tour of historic landmarks of Split is available in a short variation (2 hours) and extended variation (3 or 4 hours). Your guide can meet you at any centrally located hotel in the city or at the dock, if you’ll arrive to split with a cruise ship. The first part of the tour is identical, while the second one is available only in the extended version.

We’ll start from the fully pedestrian centre of Split, which houses the most important landmarks such as the Diocletian Palace (built during the 4th century) and the St. Doimus cathedral. The guide will tell you the story about each of these places, and the general information about Split. The central part is perfect for walking as it’s very compact, isn’t plagued by cars and features many pleasant places, including the popular promenade, Riva. The two-hour tour will end at this point, whereas the three- or four-hour version will go on.

After enjoying a stroll through Split, we’ll have a 10-15 min walk to the Marjan hill (or take taxi at extra cost), which provides a perfect spot for admiring the city from above. Surrounded by mountains and the beautiful islands in the sea, Split certainly looks wonderful from this perspective, and you will have a hard time resisting the desire to stay here for longer.

4 hour tour: Our tour will take us further to admire man-made beauty, as we’ll visit the gallery of Croatia’s most renowned artist, Ivan Mestrovic, who is often compared to Rodin. To get to the gallery, we walk 25 min or take taxi or bus (bus ticket is USD 2 per person, one way). The gallery of this famous sculptor is located on the Marjan peninsula, which is also a Natural park. It’s the place where Mestrovic used to work and live, and which was transformed into his museum after the artist died. There are over 100 pieces of art created by the master using different materials and touching upon different themes. After enjoying his works for some time we’ll return to Split and conclude our tour.

Price: 2 hours - 110 Euros, 3 hours - 135 Euros, 4 hours - 160 Euros
